Reported 8 months ago

A Taiwan Railways Express Taroko Express train (EMU3000 model) collided with a mudslide on the westbound line in Hualien yesterday, causing the train to derail and injuring 9 people including the driver and passengers. The section between Heping and Jianguo on the westbound line was disrupted but has now resumed two-way traffic. The incident was attributed to a large mudslide from the Dacingshui River below the track. The train has resumed operation with a speed limit of 30 km/h between Heping and Jianguo for safety reasons, causing an average delay of 5 to 10 minutes for trains passing through the area.
