A Taiwan Railways train collided with rocks and soil while the 'alarm system' was questioned for being ineffective. Taiwan Railways explained that the West Zheng Line where the incident occurred has well-lit tunnels that provide protection against falling rocks, so there was no need for an alarm system. However, in this case of a mudslide overflowing, the train derailed, and Taiwan Railways attributed it to the relatively low height of the soil barrier at the tunnel entrance which led to the accident.
