A Taiwan Railways new Taroko Express train was hit by a mudslide near Huatung in Hualien this afternoon, stopping inside the Cingshuei Tunnel, injuring the driver with a broken hand, and 8 passengers lightly. Passengers described the experience of being thrown around inside the tunnel until the train finally came to a stop. The train, delayed for over 2 hours, carried 525 passengers who were later refunded. The injured were sent to hospitals, while the remaining passengers were transferred back to the station for further arrangements.
