Taiwan Raises Travel Alert to 'Orange' in Response to China's Threats Against Independence Activists

Reported 9 months ago

In response to China's new laws targeting Taiwan's independence activists and reports of Taiwanese citizens being illegally detained in China, Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council raised the travel alert for China, Hong Kong, and Macau from 'Yellow' to 'Orange' on Thursday, June 27. The council urged people to avoid unnecessary travel to these areas due to heightened risks to personal safety. The warning comes after China issued further measures to punish 'Taiwan independence' activists, increasing concerns for Taiwanese travelers' safety and potential legal risks while in China.
