The IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook 2024 ranked Taiwan 8th out of 67 countries, surpassing the US, China, Japan, and others. Taiwan also secured the top rank globally for four consecutive years among economies with a population over 20 million. Despite slipping in economic performance to 26th due to global inflation and high interest rates affecting demand and exports, Taiwan excelled in areas like enterprise efficiency, government effectiveness, and infrastructure, ranking 6th, 8th, and 10th respectively.
