Retired Army Colonel Yu Beichen recently stated that the reason why the Chinese Liberation Army aircraft dare not fly around Taiwan at night is because Taiwan's Air Force has a strong night navigation capability, comparable to carrier pilots, even earning admiration from the US. His remarks sparked discussion, with fellow retired officer Qiu Shiqing sarcastically agreeing and implying that Taiwan's earthquake experience won't cause the island to sway like a carrier at sea. Beichen highlighted the importance of instrument flying and the precision of Taiwan's Air Force, with most pilots reaching carrier pilot standards, surprising even some US pilots who praised their spatial awareness, comparing it to only carrier pilots having the same skill.
