During the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Central Cross-Island Highway in Taiwan experienced continuous rain in the mountainous area, leading to a landslide at the exit of Ming Tunnel at the 17.3 km mark. The road was temporarily closed for half a day until clearance was completed on the 10th. Scholars have suggested building elevated roads along river valleys similar to National Freeway No. 6 to prevent future landslides on the Central Cross-Island Highway prone to rockfalls after earthquakes and heavy rain.
