Taiwan's Dahon University Plans to Cease Enrollment of Master's Programs and Foreign Students

Reported 12 months ago

Dahon University in Hualien announced earlier this year its plan to stop accepting new students and cease operations starting from the 113th academic year in August, sparking protests from students and teachers. The Ministry of Education confirmed that the university has submitted a plan to halt operations, which will undergo review to determine if the school will indeed close. The university has faced controversies since the initial announcement, with the higher education union raising concerns over the sudden termination of the ongoing academic year's master's program enrollment, accusing the Ministry of Education of neglect. The Ministry cited that the university's promotion of weekend classes for the master's program violated regulations. However, other enrollment channels for undergraduate programs are still ongoing.
