Taiwan's Defense Ministry Responds to Abolition of Traditional Military Practices by Minister Chiu Li-Hsiung

Reported 7 months ago

Since taking office as the Minister of National Defense, Chiu Li-Hsiung has advocated for practical combat training for the military by cancelling traditional ceremonial practices like marching and bayonet training. This has raised questions about abolishing other practices, such as folding cotton quilts into tofu squares. The Defense Ministry stated that while initial training emphasizes discipline, future training will focus on realism and will not include such tasks. This move aligns with advancing combat readiness and reflects a shift towards modernization in military training.
