According to a Weekly Magazine report, Taiwan's ambassador to the US, Yu Dawei, spent large amounts on luxury items like a 4 million NT dollar car and 2 million NT dollars on furniture, with his wife allegedly mistreating diplomatic staff. In response, Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung stated that all purchases follow regulations, and projects require approval; those without approval are not procured. Despite the controversy, Lin confirmed that Yu Dawei will not be recalled, as communication is efficient, and Yu will be requested to provide written reports. Lin emphasized the necessity of procurement and adherence to administrative law, promising to review the embassy's purchasing procedures.
