Reported 12 months ago

Premier Su Tseng-chang confirmed on June 28, 2024, at 2:00 AM that Wu Hsiu-mei, the Director of the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration, will be replaced. This came after conflicting statements from Minister of Health and Welfare Chiu Tai-yuan the previous day. The new FDA Director is expected to be Chuang Sheng-hung, the dean of the School of Pharmacy at China Medical University. Wu Hsiu-mei faced ongoing controversies during her 7-year tenure, with disagreements particularly noted with Minister Chiu Tai-yuan regarding regenerative medicine laws. The announcement of Wu's replacement followed the denial by Minister Chiu, illustrating administrative changes in the health sector in Taiwan.
