Vice Premier of Taiwan, Audrey Tang, mentioned at an event in Taichung that Taiwan's green energy production exceeded nuclear energy last year and has surpassed 10% this year. She emphasized the government's commitment to move towards a non-nuclear homeland, stopping operation as licenses for related nuclear power plants expire, and developing diverse green energy sources to reduce carbon emissions. Chairman of Wistron, Simon Lin, who advocates for nuclear and green energy cooperation to help Taiwan achieve zero carbon emissions, responded to Tang's statement noting the importance of focusing on reducing carbon emissions to combat global warming instead of solely opposing nuclear energy. Lin highlighted Taiwan's current challenge in advancing green energy and the need to use the best strategies considering the country's conditions. He urged for nuclear energy to be seen as an ally in combating climate change.
