On June 8, 2024, Taiwan's NHIA initiated a project to produce 5 million bottles of physiological saline solution due to a major intravenous fluid factory, Yung Feng Chemical Industrial Co., Ltd., being ordered to close by the health authority. NHIA will subsidize the cost difference between 3 and 15.1 NTD per bottle, totaling 300 million NTD, to address the shortage caused by the closure. The project involves five pharmaceutical companies supplying 12 different items of physiological saline solution, with price adjustments ranging from 3 to 15.1 NTD, effective from June 8 to November 1.
