Regarding Taiwan's declining birth rate as a national security issue, Premier Su Tseng-chang proposed on July 1 that household registration units can verify data of unmarried youths of marriageable age or married individuals without children to introduce incentive policies. However, this suggestion was criticized for privacy infringement. Su clarified on July 2 that his intention was not to exceed current practices, emphasizing the need for proper policies and consent for such initiatives.
