On June 26, 2024, Taiwan's representative to the US, Yu Da'an, faced accusations of improper use of public funds, allegedly spending 8 million Taiwanese dollars within six months of taking office. However, Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung clarified that the actual expenditure was 2.5 million TWD, denying the 8 million figure, and stated there would be no suspension of investigation into the matter. Despite denials from Yu Da'an and the Foreign Ministry, calls for accountability continue, with some urging for Yu Da'an's resignation or suspension pending investigation, which Minister Lin stated will not happen.
