In response to a Penghu-registered fishing boat being inspected and taken for investigation by China on July 2, the Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) has sent a letter to China's Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS) on the evening of July 3, requesting a public explanation for the incident and a swift release of the crew and ship to ensure their safety. The SEF plans to offer necessary assistance based on governmental instructions and family needs, with hopes for a safe return of the detained crew and ship to Taiwan.
