FTNN News, June 15, 2024 - Taiwan continues to move towards an aging society, with the latest data from the Ministry of the Interior showing that in the first quarter of 2024, the number of households with 'only one elderly resident' has reached as high as 946,100; according to Hao Shichang, CEO of Shin Kong Real Estate Think Tank, the increasing number of 'solitary elderly houses' can be attributed to aging population and three other major factors, including different generational preferences, cultural inclination towards fulfilling end-of-life care at home, and high thresholds and fees for facilities like health preservation villages.
