Taiwan's SRF Power Plants in Taoyuan Get Second Chance

Reported about 1 year ago

The Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Economic Affairs simultaneously took action last Thursday to allow three solid recovered fuel (SRF) power plants that had lost permission to operate in the Taoyuan Science Park to resume establishment, despite objections from local residents and the Taoyuan City government. Strict reviews are promised by Mayor Zhang Shanzheng before final operation, aiming to safeguard public health. The reversal of the decision made by central government authorities angered locals and led to threats of protests. On another note, US President Biden, during his visit to France, issued a joint statement with French President Macron emphasizing the defense of freedom of navigation in the Indo-Pacific region, seen as targeting China.
