TAIEX opened at 21,841 points and surged to a high of 21,994 points, rising by 153 points with Taiwan Semiconductor hitting a new high of NT$905 in midday trading, pushing its market value to NT$23.47 trillion. The market was hovering around 21,994 points at 11:29 AM with investors awaiting the Federal Reserve's interest rate decision and US consumer price index data. Despite the Dow Jones Industrial Average closing slightly lower, the Nasdaq and S&P 500 hit new highs driven by Apple's AI announcement.
