In a June 25, 2024, program on SET News, DPP legislator Wu Pei-yi accused KMT legislator Hung Meng-kai of requesting sensitive information from a National Science Council official, leading to a defamation counter-suit by Hung. Taipei City Councilor Miao Po-ya commented on the show that based on the released transcripts and video recordings from the legislature, Hung did indeed ask for sensitive information from the Council official regarding Taiwan Semiconductor and said, 'I will give it to you later.' Miao questioned Hung, 'If you say that only corruption investigations would require companies to provide sensitive information, then what corruption case involving Taiwan Semiconductor prompted your inquiry?'
