The progress of when Taiwan's indigenous submarine, the 'Haikungho,' can enter service has become a focus of attention. Delays in progressing to the sea trials phase after completing HAT harbor tests have raised questions about possible delays in the schedule. Taiwan Shipbuilding's Vice President, Tsai Kun-tsung, stated that the contracted delivery deadline for the Haikungho is November 3rd next year and will be followed accordingly. The shipyard emphasized in a press release that any involvement of arms dealers as intermediaries in the submarine project will be strictly prohibited to safeguard national interests and prevent misappropriation of public funds. Additionally, legal action will be taken against recent defamatory remarks by individuals. The first domestically-produced submarine in Taiwan, the 'Haikungho' is nearing the end of harbor tests and is expected to proceed to sea trials soon, followed by naval assessments and weapon testing before being formally commissioned for service.
