UMC, a leading wafer foundry, went ex-dividend today, reaching a low of 51.9 NT dollars in trading, attracting many retail investors to buy on the dip. The stock closed at 52.7 NT dollars, down by 1.2 NT dollars, with a trading volume of 237,122 shares, ranking third in daily trading volume. Hon Hai, another leading stock, also went ex-dividend with a reference price of 210.5 NT dollars, reaching a high of 213 NT dollars in early trading, but plummeted to a low of 203 NT dollars during the day, closing at 204.5 NT dollars.
