Taiwan Stock Market Plunges 620 Points as TSMC and MediaTek Drop 4%, UMC Surges Despite Downturn

As a result, the Taiwan stock market opened low and dropped by 396.81 points to 23,373.01 points, with the weighted index plummeting to 23,148.74 points, a decrease of 621.08 points. Various sectors including semiconductors and electronics suffered losses, while some stocks like UMC and Tianji Energy surged against the trend. Despite plunges of 4%, TSMC, MediaTek, and Hon Hai Precision Industry caused the weighted index to dive significantly. UMC hit a new high with a surge, while other stocks plunged significantly early in the morning, marking a mixed performance in the Taiwan Stock Market.
