President Tsai Ing-wen established the Healthy Taiwan Promotion Committee on July 3, 2024, aiming to reduce cancer death rates by potentially lower the screening age for the five major cancers. The government is also planning to address the nursing staff shortage crisis by adjusting nurse-to-patient ratios and implementing policies to meet staffing goals. The committee will focus on promoting early cancer detection, improving public awareness of cancer, discussing national dietary health laws, and enhancing elder care to promote independence and sustainability, ultimately aiming to reduce the number of bedridden elderly individuals.
