Taiwan to Raise Travel Advisory to China to Orange Alert 'Avoid Non-Essential Travel'

Reported 11 months ago

In response to China's recent punitive measures against Taiwan independence, the Taiwan government is considering upgrading the travel advisory to China to orange alert, indicating 'avoid non-essential travel.' The move comes after a Taiwan traveler was detained in China following the implementation of China's National Security Law and Anti-Spy Law, leading to an increase in incidents of Taiwanese being detained and investigated upon entry. The announcement is expected to be made by the Mainland Affairs Council on June 27. This decision aims to counter China's 22 measures aimed at Taiwan independence.
