Taiwan Tourism Bureau: Increasing Charter Flight Subsidies from 7/1 to Encourage Overseas Tourists to Fly Directly to Hualien

Reported 8 months ago

Starting from July 1, the Taiwan Tourism Bureau will raise subsidies for charter flights to promote direct flights to Hualien for overseas tourists. In an effort to boost tourism recovery after the earthquake, the Bureau announced increased subsidies for charter flights from different countries, ranging from Japan receiving NT$420,000 per flight to Hong Kong and Macau receiving NT$305,000 per flight. The goal is to attract more international charter flights and at least 1,200 tourists. Hualien hotel association hopes for a positive impact on the local accommodation industry with overseas guests arriving directly at Hualien Airport and staying overnight. Despite concerns over the impact of the 0403 Hualien earthquake, efforts to assure international visitors of the safety of traveling in the area are emphasized by tourism scholars and related departments.
