On June 21, the Taiwan Railways Administration's Taroko Express train No. 229 derailed in Hualien following a collision with falling rocks near the Qingshui Tunnel, with the train captain and eight passengers sustaining injuries. Passengers described the scene as terrifying, akin to a disaster zone covered in mud. The incident was caused by flooding that resulted in derailment, with the train stopped at the site for repairs as rescue operations were conducted to transport passengers to their destinations and provide medical assistance.
