On June 21, 2024, at around 4:50 PM, Taiwan Railways Taroko Express train No. 229 (3000 series) collided with falling rocks at K51 near the Qingshui Tunnel between Chongde and Horen on the westbound line. The accident resulted in a total of 9 injuries, with 2 people leaving without medical treatment. The driver suffered a hand fracture and was taken to the Tzu Chi Hospital. The situation was disclosed earlier. The injured male driver's hand had a bleeding fracture, and he appeared tense at the scene of the incident.
