Taiwan Train Derailment After Hitting Rocks Injures 9 Passengers

Reported about 1 year ago

A Taiwan Railways Administration train derailed after hitting rocks between Chongde and Heping stations on its way to Hualien, injuring 9 people. The incident caused the second carriage of the train to derail inside a tunnel, where passengers had to evacuate in the rain, navigating through mud and water. The train was later evacuated, and all 525 passengers were transferred to Shinxin Station via alternate transport. The driver sustained a bone fracture but was safe, while 9 other passengers suffered minor injuries. Due to the derailment and debris, further transportation along the route might be affected, potentially impacting weekend travel in the area.
