Taiwan Train Derails in Chingshui Tunnel Again: 'Taroko's Tear' Family Speaks Out 3 Years After Similar Incident

Reported about 1 year ago

A Taiwan Railway 229 Taroko Express train derailed in the Chingshui Tunnel on June 21, causing injuries to 9 people due to overflow of soil and rocks covering the tracks. Three years ago, a similar accident occurred at the same location involving the Taroko Express. A group of families of the victims, known as 'Taroko's Tear,' expressed concerns about the railway's inadequate warning systems and the need for significant improvements in safety measures. Despite efforts to enhance safety, including reinforcement of slopes and warning systems, 'Taroko's Tear' believes there is still room for improvement and continues to push for railway safety reforms.
