During a visit to China on June 28, 2024, Taiwan's Tamkang University Department of Management head, Zhang Yongsheng, referred to China as the 'Motherland' in an interview, sparking controversy. The Ministry of Education deemed this a violation of the principle of equal dignity in exchanges and plans to list it as an administrative deficiency, which could lead to the reduction of school subsidies or enrollment quotas. The Ministry emphasized that education exchanges between Taiwan and China should follow principles of equal dignity and not violate relevant regulations.
