Taiwan's Premier Su Tseng-chang was interviewed before a legislative session on June 24, 2024. Reports surfaced alleging Taiwanese Ambassador to the US Hsiao Mei-chin misused public funds, fabricated expenses, and allowed his wife to treat diplomatic staff as servants. Hsiao reportedly spent nearly 8 million NT dollars in six months on luxury items such as lavish carpets and handmade sofas, and even included personal expenses in official accounts. Premier Su stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will investigate the matter and provide clarification to the public, emphasizing the government's strict standards in managing diplomatic personnel.
