Taiwanese Authorities Seize NT$140 Million Worth of Marijuana Hidden in Containers from Thailand

Reported about 1 year ago

Drug traffickers attempted to smuggle 17 boxes of marijuana totaling 262 packs inside containers declared as automotive parts from Thailand to the Keelung Harbor without customs declaration. However, as no one dared to declare the goods upon arrival, the containers were left untouched for 40 days until authorities discovered the drugs. The investigation led to the arrest and prosecution of several individuals involved in the drug smuggling scheme, with one suspect still at large. The Taipei Customs Office uncovered the illegal cargo valued at NT$140 million and initiated a joint operation involving various law enforcement agencies to combat the drug smuggling activity.
