In Kaohsiung Outer Harbor on June 12, 2024, at 2:14 am, a Taiwanese cargo ship named 'Hui Feng' exploded in fire for the second time, prompting all 12 crew members to abandon ship and be evacuated to a hospital. The cause of the fire is yet to be investigated, with initial reports of 3 crew members sustaining burn injuries. The Coast Guard rescued the crew, consisting of 10 Taiwanese and 2 foreign nationals, and after the initial fire was brought under control, it reignited, forcing the captain to order the crew to abandon ship for safety.
