Taiwanese College Student Dies in Collision with Ambulance suspected of Drink Driving, Case Reversed! Retested Alcohol Level 0

Reported 12 months ago

In an incident in Taichung's North District in March, a man named Huang was driving an ambulance with a patient onboard. When passing an intersection, a college student named Shi riding a motorcycle did not yield and collided with the ambulance, resulting in fatal head injuries for Shi. Authorities initially found Shi's blood alcohol level to be 0.54mg/l, twice the limit for public endangerment. However, after family members disputed that Shi had just finished classes and could not have been drinking, forensic experts retested using eye fluid and found the alcohol level to be 0, indicating no alcohol was present. The case is still under investigation to determine whether Huang will be prosecuted for causing death by negligence.
