In a recent case in Taichung, Taiwan, a company led by a man surnamed Xiao and a sanitation worker surnamed Chen were involved in illegally collecting and transporting garbage for incineration, without proper permits. The scheme, discovered by the Taichung Environmental Protection Bureau, led to arrests of those involved in late May after conducting 141 illegal operations. Xiao admitted to the crime and returned the illicit gains, while Chen and another suspect also confessed and returned their profits. The three suspects were released on bail, pending further legal proceedings based on waste disposal laws and anti-corruption regulations. Authorities urge strict adherence to waste management laws to safeguard the environment and public health.
