Taiwanese Consumers Spend Nearly 360 Billion in April, Setting Record High for Same Period in History

Reported about 1 year ago

During the Qingming Festival holidays, credit card spending surged in Taiwan, with April seeing a record high of 359.7 billion Taiwanese dollars in card payments, marking a total of 1.4 trillion TWD for the first four months of the year. Factors contributing to the increase included increased domestic and international travel and deferred insurance premiums. The usage of credit cards for payments has become a habit for Taiwanese consumers, and with the economy gradually recovering and travel picking up, it is expected that card spending may exceed last year's figures.
