Taiwanese city councilor Lin Yanzhu revealed that metals left after cremation, such as dentures and artificial joints, were being sold by funeral homes for profit. The crematoriums in Tainan were reported to have made over 5 million NTD a year from recycling these metals. Lin called for better regulations to manage this practice, and the city government responded by announcing stricter inspections and public auctions for the metals twice a year.
