Lin Sheng-chang, a renowned team physician for Taiwan's Olympic and Asian Games teams, known as the 'Guardian Doctor of the Nation', was initially found guilty of letting a nurse perform illegal consultations and defraud the National Health Insurance system. However, in the appeal case, the verdict was reversed due to insufficient evidence, leading to an acquittal. The case can still be appealed further. It was revealed that the alleged 'patients' were actually participants in a separate weight-loss program and inconsistencies in witness statements raised doubts. The court considered Lin's established medical background and societal status as factors supporting the acquittal based on the lack of concrete evidence.
