In a tragic incident, Taiwanese DPP city councilor Lin Yi-ting's father and director of the Taiwanese Fishermen's Association, Lin Shijie, was shot at his home at 5 a.m. by an assailant who fired at his face, neck, and chest before fleeing the scene. Despite being rushed to a hospital, Lin Shijie succumbed to his injuries. The police arrived promptly to investigate, revealing that the attack, in which at least 9 bullets were fired, lasted merely 8 seconds. The gunman seemed well-acquainted with Lin Shijie's residence and routines, exhibiting a high degree of familiarity with the victim.
