The director of the Fisheries Association in the city district of Tainan, Lin Shijie, was fatally shot outside his residence early in the morning. Lin, who was involved in a controversial election bribery case, was ambushed by a gunman with two firearms. The assailant is suspected to have fled the country, leaving behind burnt evidence. Authorities are investigating the case and pursuing the perpetrator, with speculation that the gunman may have already escaped abroad.
