Taiwanese Fishing Boat Seized by Chinese Authorities, Bodies for Nearly 5 Months

Reported 12 months ago

On July 3, 2024, a fishing boat from Penghu was towed away by Chinese maritime police, similar to the incident involving Taiwan seizing a mainland Chinese speedboat for illegal entry. The Red Cross Society of Kinmen specially traveled to Quanzhou yesterday to donate over 200,000 in relief funds to the families of the mainland victims. The Chinese side will conduct an investigation and decide on penalties before returning the seized vessel and personnel, currently pending negotiations with Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council. The incident involves a Penghu fishing boat mistakenly entering Chinese waters and being detained by Chinese maritime police.
