Taiwanese Fishing Boats Successively Seized by Mainland China and Japan, Legislator Accuses Lai Ching-te of Playing Hide-and-Seek

Reported about 1 year ago

Penghu-registered fishing boat detained by Chinese maritime police for two days unresolved, and a Keelung fishing boat was taken away by Japanese official vessel yesterday. However, not only did the DPP government's head of the Ocean Affairs Council, Kuan Pi-ling, go missing at one point, but President Lai Ching-te has not shown any concern until now. Legislator Hsu Yu-chen questioned if Lai was playing hide-and-seek. Hsu criticized that Lai should address the issues promptly to safeguard the traditional fishing grounds of fishermen, allow them to fish peacefully at sea, and not be occupied with fighting political enemies at the expense of the people's well-being.
