A Taiwanese fishing vessel, Da Jinman No. 88 from Penghu, was forcefully detained by two Chinese coast guard ships while operating outside Kinmen on the evening of July 2. It was taken to Weitou Port in Fujian. The China Coast Guard alleged that the vessel violated the seasonal fishing ban, engaged in illegal trawling operations within the prohibited fishing zone, and used fishing nets smaller than the 'national regulations.' They claimed this action damaged marine resources and the ecological environment. China Coast Guard also stated that Taiwanese vessels attempted to interfere with law enforcement, and warnings were issued. The Taiwan side is seeking clarification as the situation unfolds.
