Taiwanese Government Discusses Limiting Electricity Charges for Renters to Average Price, Legislators Push for Implementation in July

Reported about 1 year ago

Following the recent adjustment in electricity prices starting from April, landlords of rental properties have been adjusting their rental fees accordingly, potentially increasing the burden on tenants. The former Minister of the Interior, Lin Yu-chang, had promised to revise standardized rental contracts in May to restrict electricity charges from exceeding the total monthly electricity bill and the average electricity price per kilowatt-hour. However, the implementation has been delayed. The Executive Yuan is currently working on the process with the Consumers' Foundation set to discuss the matter by the end of June, aiming for expedited review. Nationalist Party legislator Liao Wei-hsiang inquired about the possibility of implementation in July, to which the Premier responded with a commitment to make efforts toward that goal.
