Taiwanese Hundred-Pacer's Wild Nesting Process Documented for the First Time Globally

Reported 7 months ago

CTWANT Weekly | China Times reported on June 11, 2024, the first public revelation of the wild nesting process of the 'Mountain God' hundred-pacer snake! The Forestry Bureau's Taichung Branch, along with children attending a camp in 2023, discovered a hundred-pacer snake and later found its nest, leading to the documentation of the egg-guarding, offspring-protection, and the young snake leaving the nest for the first time ever, which will be presented at this year's Amphibian and Reptile Conference. This marks the world's first documented observation of the complete reproductive ecology of a wild hundred-pacer snake, a precious and rare conservation-worthy species native to Taiwan.
