The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) will hold a full congress on July 21 to elect the party's core power central and evaluation committee members. Taiwanese lawmaker Chen Ting-fei and two others were expelled by the party for running as independents in the elections, against party decisions. Chen Mao-sung, a member of the party's decision-making body, expressed well wishes for Chen Ting-fei after the decision. The decision was made due to the members' failure to abide by the party's decisions and work collaboratively towards the upcoming party elections.
