Taiwanese Legislator Accused of Bringing Sleeping Bag into Parliament, Confronted by Colleague

Reported 8 months ago

The Parliament Reform Act reconsideration will be voted on tomorrow, with the Kuomintang (KMT) caucus starting to 'guard the legislative floor gate' this afternoon. During a shift change, Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Hong Shenhan was suspected of bringing a sleeping bag, leading KMT legislator Hsu Chia-chin to confront him about it, insinuating he brought it to the parliament. After several inquiries, Hong finally responded, 'So what if I brought a sleeping bag?' and Hsu joked, 'Ah, a sleeping bag, are you trying to turn the podium into a camping area? It's that simple.' Hong expressed exasperation, remarking, 'They (the KMT) are a bit overly sensitive.'
