KMT secretary-general Hung Meng-kai was accused by DPP legislator Wu Pei-yi of requesting confidential data from TSMC in April, which he denied and stated he had appointed a lawyer to sue Wu. Despite Wu's challenge that all the inquiries Hung made are published in the legislative report and can be verified, TSMC's stock price continued to drop for three consecutive days, linked to Hung's actions. Hung questioned the logic of inquiries affecting stock prices and emphasized that the allegations were maliciously connected to market fluctuations. He expressed his intention to sue. He claimed that he never sought confidential information, and Wu's accusations were not factual. Hung deemed the accusations as a malicious attempt to undermine him and emphasized the importance of professionalism and rationality in political interrogation.
