During a press conference in Taiwan where Taiwanese red-flesh dragon fruit was being promoted for export to Japan, legislator Mai Yu-chen confessed to bringing dragon fruit stems back to Vietnam for cultivation after enjoying the fruit in Taiwan. The action sparked criticism and led to Agriculture Minister Chen Chi-cheng reminding not to export Taiwan's seedlings to other countries. Mai Yu-chen later apologized on social media, acknowledging her lack of understanding of relevant regulations and expressing her intention to promote compliance with laws to protect the environment.
